Dr. S.B Mujumdar
Symbiosis was established in 1971 as a 'home away from home' for foreign students. Today, our endeavour of establishing 'international relations' through our personal concern for the welfare of these foreign students has indeed come a full circle with the establishment of the Symbiosis School of International Studies (SSIS) and the annual International Relations Conference (IRC).
The first three editions of the IRC titled India's Development Partnership with West Asia and Africa in 2013, India's Look East-Act East Policy: A Bridge to the Asian Neighbourhood in 2014, and Link West: India and the Gulf in 2015, were well attended and well-received by high-level policy-makers, business leaders, members of academia and media from India and abroad. This year, the IRC is titled ‘India and the Indian Ocean: Sustainability, Security and Development’.
It gives me great pleasure to see that Symbiosis, true to its motto- Vasudhaiva Kutumbkam, is progressing well on the path to contributing to the country's endeavours of fostering good international relations.
Vice Chancellor's Message
Dr. Rajani Gupte
The success of the first three editions of the International Relations Conference (IRC) which were held in 2013, 2014 and 2015 is a reflection of the Symbiosis International University’s (SIU) endeavour to engage with various stakeholders across the globe. The IRC 2016 titled ‘India and the Indian Ocean: Sustainability, Security and Development’ will receive high-level participation from India and countries of the Indian Ocean.
Since we have a large number of students from this region, this exercise will help in promoting our cultural and educational ties which will create future prospects for research collaborations, as well as student exchanges. The conference is an excellent platform to network and build relationships that will take SIU’s objective of internationalization forward.
Principal Director's Message
Dr. Vidya Yeravdekar
It gives me great pleasure to see the annual International Relations Conference (IRC) grow from strength to strength with each passing year. The first three editions, in 2013, 2014 and 2015, of the IRC were very well received by a large number of stakeholders that included policy- makers, bureaucrats, corporate leaders, media professionals, NGOs, academics, faculty and students. The fourth edition of the IRC will bring together professionals from India and the countries in the Indian Ocean region to discuss and recommend steps forward in the formulation of a more interactive foreign policy towards this region. Through our efforts, like the annual IRC, we are striving to make Pune, and particularly Symbiosis International University a name to reckon with vis-a-vis international relations.
